This is how I bring my harp to gigs
This Valentine’s Day, I was engaged to perform at the restaurant, Sophia at St Regis Singapore. I filmed a quick video explaining how I bring my harp to gigs around Singapore. My harp straps into an aluminium trolley that is purpose built for harps. The set-up is lean and it fits into most passenger lifts. My driver, James, drives an Alphard. James is a favorite among harpists in Singapore because he keeps our harps safe. The loading process is often terrifying because the harp is made of wood, it costs over $25,000, and it’s quite fragile to impact. But James knows just the right angles to maneuver the harp so that its loaded safely into his car. After the performance, we return home and I tried unloading the harp myself, thinking it’ll be nice to have a video of it, but the harp got stuck and James came to the rescue. That’s all in a day’s work of bringing my harp to gigs. Subscribe to my Tiktok channel for more behind-the-scenes videos capturing the life of a harpist.
